ITIL 2007 edition (previously known as ITIL Version 3) is an extension of ITIL Version 2 and fully replaced it following the completion of the withdrawal period on 30 June 2011. ITIL 2007 provides a more holistic perspective on the full life cycle of services, covering the entire IT organization and all supporting components needed to deliver services to the customer, whereas ITIL Version 2 focused on specific activities directly related to service delivery and support. Most of the ITIL Version 2 activities remained untouched in 2007, but some significant changes in terminology were introduced in order to facilitate the expansion.

ITIL 4 will provide sweeping changes to the ITIL certification program to better align with the growing complexity of modern IT. ITIL 4 also changes some of the certification program terms and titles to align with the new ITIL 4 program structure. Here is a look at the new ITIL 4 program overview:

ITIL concentrates on bridging the gap between IT services and business needs. It essentially provides methods and practices for IT Service Management, and introduces a framework for concepts, structures, and procedures that can be applied in any organization. ITIL has been proven as a highly beneficial and practical framework for achieving strategic objectives, while reducing costs and risk. Through introducing ITIL to a business, you will see a major improvement on productivity and efficiency. ICT deployment provides a framework for the successful management of design, build, test and roll-out (deploy) projects within an overall ICT programme. People learn differently, so we use a variety of methods to teach concepts throughout the course. In addition to exam preparation and practice quizzes, you'll engage in round-table discussions, group exercises, and games designed to give practical context to the concepts. We take this approach not only because it's more interesting and fun than simply memorizing vocabulary, but because it works.
The aim of the SDLC process is product-related. Its goal is to create a product that is high-quality, effective, and cost-efficient. After the product is developed, the SDLC maps the implementation of the software into a live environment. The general methodology of the SDLC typically consists of analysis (of both design and specific requirements), construction, testing, release, and then, maintenance. As you can see, the focus is on the software or product. The SDLC is most commonly implemented using an Agile or Waterfall approach.
Following the passing an APMG/EXIN exam in IT service management (based on ITIL), some people will wear a metal pin on their shirt or jacket. This badge, provided by the ITSMF with basic gold colour is set in the form of the ITIL-logo. The ITIL pins consist of a small, diamond-like structure. The meaning and the shape of the diamond is meant to depict coherence in the IT industry (infrastructure as well). The four corners of the pin symbolise service support, service delivery, infrastructure management and IT management.
Digital services are the de facto product these days: more and more companies are buying into – and selling – digital services, instead of tangible, heavy, customized options. Digital services typically rely on ongoing project management that focus on the service’s objectives while also paying attention to inevitable issues in developing, delivering, and maintaining the service. A good IT service management approach is knowing exactly how to integrate all these ever-changing factors into your development process.
The course will also cover the five key phases of the ITIL mode. Not only will you learn more about what each phase entails, but the training will also cover the relationship between the phases and processes. Additionally, the purpose, goals, objectives, and values of the five key phases will also be thoroughly explained. By the end of the ITIL certification training, you will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions when it comes to operating the IT department for any organization.
Split over several levels and modules, ITIL covers everything from service strategies to continuous improvement, enabling practitioners to not only adapt IT service infrastructures, but also prepare for further changes down the line. This can help to foster sustainable productivity for businesses and create a better, more consistent experience for customers.
