ITIL Intermediate (Capabilities Stream): Prescriptive modules with detailed views of the inputs, activities, concepts, metrics and outputs of each process, which develops capabilities for best practices of IT processes, rather than just management of them. ITIL Intermediate: There are two streams in the Intermediate level: the Service Lifecycle Stream and the Service Capability Stream. You can opt to take individual modules within this level, however, if you wish to progress through the ITIL qualification scheme you will need to earn a minimum of 17 credits (two credits must be earned from Foundation) before you can take the Managing across the Lifecycle module and exam. By passing this, you will achieve a total of 22 credits, which you can use towards the ITIL Expert level of certification.
The aim of the ITIL service lifecycle is to provide best practices for IT service management (ITSM). It focuses on helping align the needs of an organization with IT services. The ITIL lifecycle consists of service strategy, service design, service transition, and service operation, along with continual service improvement throughout the process. Problem management aims to resolve the root causes of incidents and thus to minimize the adverse impact of incidents caused by errors within the IT infrastructure, and to prevent recurrence of incidents related to these errors. Registration fees for ITIL certification exams vary by location, ranging from around $150 to $500. While you can self-study for ITIL exams, coursework is strongly recommended, and fees for classes, whether completed online or in a classroom setting, vary by location and institute.
