ICT design and planning provides a framework and approach for the strategic and technical design and planning of ICT infrastructures. It includes the necessary combination of business (and overall IS) strategy, with technical design and architecture. ICT design and planning drives both the procurement of new ICT solutions through the production of statements of requirement ("SOR") and invitations to tender ("ITT") and is responsible for the initiation and management of ICT Programmes for strategic business change. Key outputs from design and planning are:
That’s one reason why there was a lot of stir when the new version of ITIL called ITIL 4 was announced. Axelos suggested that this would just not be an update to what is existent in the ITIL V3, but also would have qualitative aspects to ITIL like- Culture, adaption, among others. Not just this, ITIL 4 is going to have a restructured certification path.

This training should take you approximately three hours to complete. However, it is important to keep in mind that you can go through the lessons at your own pace. Whether you want to complete the entire course in one day or you would prefer to tackle a few lessons at a time, you have the flexibility to complete this ITIL foundation online training however it works best for you.
The IT Infrastructure Library(ITIL®) is the standard for IT service management. ITIL® provides the framework that has been drawn from both the public and private sectors throughout the world. Our training will teach you how IT resources should be organized to deliver the best value to businesses or organization. Every month since we started running ITIL® courses we have tracked our students performance – and we consistently see pass-rates of well over 90% every month. Note that in all of the ITIL® classes listed below we have a maximum number of 25 students per class.

CSI needs upfront planning, training and awareness, ongoing scheduling, roles created, ownership assigned, and activities identified to be successful. CSI must be planned and scheduled as process with defined activities, inputs, outputs, roles and reporting. Continual Service Improvement and Application Performance Management (APM) are two sides of the same coin. They both focus on improvement with APM tying together service design, service transition, and service operation which in turn helps raise the bar of operational excellence for IT.[31]
Continuous Service Improvement: This phase defines new requirements for the preceding phases of ITIL based on operational feedback and service levels. It helps to ensure that policies and procedures are followed, that service level agreements are met and that operational lessons learned are incorporated into existing and future service refinements.
Malcom Fry’s career in IT began in 1967, and since then he has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of ITIL strategy through developmental, operational and management roles for retail, manufacturing, oil, and pharmaceutical organizations. The author of five best-selling books on IT service and support, he is recognized worldwide as one of the most influential authorities in help desk and IT Service Management. Malcolm has become highly sought out by large organizations as an innovative and informative strategic consultant.
The ITIL Practitioner is considered the next step in the ITIL progression after achieving the ITIL Foundation (which is a prerequisite). It emphasizes the ability to adopt, adapt and apply ITIL concepts in an organization. Although the Practitioner certification is not required for upper-level ITIL credentials, achieving Practitioner certification provides three credits toward ITIL Expert certification. You can prepare for the Practitioner exam through self-study, in-person classroom learning or online and distance learning options. The Practitioner exam is 40 multiple-choice questions and requires a minimum score of 70 percent, or 28 correct answers,  to pass.
Problem management aims to resolve the root causes of incidents and thus to minimize the adverse impact of incidents caused by errors within the IT infrastructure, and to prevent recurrence of incidents related to these errors. A "problem" in this context is the unknown underlying cause of one or more incidents, and a 'known error' is a problem that is successfully diagnosed and for which either a work-around or a permanent resolution has been identified. The CCTA (Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency) defines problems and known errors as follows:
ITIL Intermediate: There are two streams in the Intermediate level: the Service Lifecycle Stream and the Service Capability Stream. You can opt to take individual modules within this level, however, if you wish to progress through the ITIL qualification scheme you will need to earn a minimum of 17 credits (two credits must be earned from Foundation) before you can take the Managing across the Lifecycle module and exam. By passing this, you will achieve a total of 22 credits, which you can use towards the ITIL Expert level of certification.

All of our courseware is reviewed multiple times a year to ensure it's up to date, in line with best practice standards, and effective! We incorporate feedback from students to constantly improve our course books, in-class activities, and (sorry) homework. The goal is to provide you with the tools to not only get you through class and pass the exam, but also to have a reliable reference when you get back to the office.

While you can certainly study up or apply ITIL principles and practices in your own company, you can also pursue official ITIL certifications, which indicate familiarity, knowledge, and even mastery of ITIL principles put into practice. Importantly, ITIL certifications are available only to individuals, not to an entire organization. For instance, if a company claims they are ITIL certified, they may in fact comply with a related, but different, standard of the ISO/IEC 20000, or they may simply be promoting any number of employees within the company do hold ITIL certifications.

Organizations and management systems cannot claim certification as "ITIL-compliant". An organization that has implemented ITIL guidance in IT Service Management (ITSM), may be able to achieve compliance with and seek certification under ISO/IEC 20000. However, while relatively closely aligned, ISO/IEC 20000 and ITIL Version 2 do not define identical processes.[59] This gap has become much wider with ITIL versions 2007 and 2011. ITIL now defines twice as many ITSM processes as ISO/IEC 20000 (26 compared to 13),[60] but there are also more subtle differences, for example:[61]

Axelos and the ITIL Development Group, made up of more than 2,000 ITIL stakeholders worldwide, began working on an update to ITIL V3 in late 2017. That work continued throughout 2018, and Axelos has announced upcoming changes to the ITIL certifications known as ITIL 4. ITIL 4 will provide sweeping changes to the ITIL certification program to better align with the growing complexity of modern IT. ITIL 4 also changes some of the certification program terms and titles to align with the new ITIL 4 program structure. Here is a look at the new ITIL 4 program overview:
ITIL® Foundation is the most widely acknowledged entry-level ITIL certification for IT professionals. Today’s IT departments need qualified experts who can deliver effective IT services. This training will show you the ITIL services lifecycle, how lifecycle stages are linked, processes involved, and best practices for enhancing the quality of IT service management to reduce costs and increase productivity. ITIL certified professionals earn 40% more than their non-certified peers.
Let’s get this straight – getting a certification is not rocket science in today’s day and age. A certification merely demonstrates that you’ve studied and cleared an examination. It doesn’t give you wings and doesn’t solve all the world’s problems. One of the primary reasons why certifications and other training programs are losing their relevance is that it’s possible to pass the certification and still not learn ANYTHING practical about the subject.

The intermediate level includes two paths: Service Lifecycle, with five examinations (Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement); and Service Capability, with four examinations (Planning Protection and Optimization, Release Control and Validation, Operational Support and Analysis, and Service Offerings and Agreements).
Not only will you be more confident in your abilities and expertise, but your employers will be impressed as well. Achieving an ITIL certification at any of the more advanced levels will give you a demonstrable advantage over other candidates in a job hiring scenario. Not only does it prove to employers that you are highly skilled and educated in industry best practices, but it will also make their investment in you more lucrative as you’ll be able to breeze through the training process and provide value from the day you’re brought on board. Although becoming ITIL certified may cost you a pretty penny up front, the long-term advantages for job growth may be worth the costs.
ITIL exams are provided at three levels: Foundation, Practitioner and Manager. The certifications themselves were previously managed by the ITIL Certification Management Board, or ICMB. Originally, the ICMB included representatives from various international organizations, including the U.K. OGC, APMG, the Stationery Office (TSO), ITIL Examination Panel and Examination Institutes (EIs).
ITSM is regarded by the application owners as the recovery of the IT infrastructure used to deliver IT services, but as of 2009 many businesses practice the much further-reaching process of business continuity planning (BCP), to ensure that the whole end-to-end business process can continue should a serious incident occur (at primary support level).
Our teaching assistants are a dedicated team of subject matter experts here to help you get certified in your first attempt. They engage students proactively to ensure the course path is being followed and help you enrich your learning experience, from class onboarding to project mentoring and job assistance. Teaching Assistance is available during business hours.
Organizations need both approaches. If ITIL best practices aren’t integrated into the SDLC, and the reverse as well, then development can become siloed. Software developers are most concerned with speed and innovation and operational functions are focused on governance and stability. Without ITIL and SDLC integration, businesses are more likely to experience issues like bottlenecks, the proper resources being unavailable when development requires them, and inaccurate information being collected. Additionally, inconsistent environments, manual deployment processes, subpar quality and testing, frequent outages, poor communication between IT silos, and failing SLAs can result. Any one of those issues will need significant time and expense of an organization’s IT resources to resolve.
To enable candidates to meet their own career goals, AXELOS lets you achieve qualification in one category or by choosing modules from both categories. AXELOS recommends that you have at least two years of IT service management experience. Note that you must complete your Intermediate exam preparation by completing a training course offered by an accredited training organization (ATO), i.e., you cannot self-study then sit for the Intermediate exam.

The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is the most widely adopted framework of best practices for IT Service Management.
